Jim Picot is an international award winning fine art landscape photographer.

The photography of Jim is captured in it’s natural form provided completely by the living God. Starting in 1978 with a 35mm Ricoh camera, he discovered the encompassing view of his main camera the LINHOF Technorama 617.

Jim is one of Australia’s leading panoramic landscape photographers, having received international and national awards. Jim was also the overall winner of the 2020 Sienna Drone Awards.

John Mcauliffe a passionate professional photographer, from the north coast of New South Wales, has been studying and perfecting his images for most of his life. John has skills with all mediums of photography, he has spent the last year in the Gulf country and western Queensland capturing images. His specialty is birding photography, happy to spend hours in the bushes waiting for that perfect opportunity to capture the image he has been chasing.

The picturess Dampier peninsula of the Kimberley, is perfect for scenic photography and nature at its best. Let John’s expertise find us the images and help with the set up, for some memorable and professional photos. We will travel during the day and make the most of the morning and afternoon light. From digital, film or drone footage, John will help you capture memorable images. 5 days spent on the Dampier Peninsula will see you with some unforgettable photos that you can cherish forever. Richard, your guide will provide all accommodation, meals and driving, he also knows a thing or two about the area. So let us treat you to a specialised tour, where all you need to worry about is packing your bag and bringing your camera.

After the tour we hope you will stay for a while and use your new found skills and explore the area yourselves. Having been introduced to the Broome Birding Observatory, this  provides an inexpensive place, with cabins, that is easily accessible from Broome.

BOOKINGS: Can only be confirmed with the payment of 25% of tour price as a deposit. Final payment falls due 45 days before departure.

PLEASE NOTE This is a camping tour, twin share basis. If weather, road conditions or other circumstances make a change in itinerary necessary the decision to change the route is solely that of the Tour.

Itinerary

We will pick you up from your accommodation and take you for a town tour, where we can find a nice shady spot to discuss cultural awareness, photographic etiquette, equipment and levels of  confidence and what you hope to get out of the next five days. Once our town tour is complete we will head out to the Broome Birding Observatory. Where we will be camping the night, this area is perfect for evening shore birds and beautiful coastal photos, during the golden hours of light.

Today we will use the glorious morning light to create and capture some amazing images of bush critters, nature, birds or whatever crosses our path as we take another look at this special place. Then make the move towards James Price Point, along the Heritage Trail of the Dampier Peninsula. With opportunities for sunset images and some lovely coastal shooting, maybe a Brahminy kite or White breasted sea eagle. We will bush camp tonight, at this very fragile area that is under threat for development. Every night we will have opportunities to view and discuss our day’s images, tapping into John’s skills, and improving as a group together.

After some early morning images we will head back to the main Cape Leveque road and make our way to Middle Lagoon. On route we will call into Beagle Bay, named after the HMS Beagle that circumnavigated Australia. This fishing community will shortly give up some wonderful images. Middle Lagoon our stop for the night will see us camped right on the coast with a spectacular beachfront site. With the sunsetting over the western seas you will capture lasting memories.

Once again seeking the early morning light we will take the chance to explore our private beach camp for some ideal images. Then make our way to the beautiful Privately owned Pearl farm at Cygnet bay. Here we will take advantage of one of the very special tours they provide, which is complementary with your tour cost. Excellent chances for a better understanding of the pearling industry and images as beautiful as the mother of pearl itself.

We will explore this wonderful area of the Dampier Peninsula, making our way to One Arm Point and Lombadina township, where we can catch blue water beaches and views over the Buccaneer Archipelago islands. This fishing community is sure to give us some wonderful subjects for spectacular images. We will make our way back to Broome for a sunset at Cable Beach before we drop you back at your selected accommodation. It would be nice if we all shared one last meal together before parting.
