Starting in Broome, I hope you have taken the chance to explore the tour options available here or will take a few days after our tour to do so.

The striking colours of this area, from the bright blue of the ocean, white sands of the beaches and the red rusted earth, make it a must see.

Onto the “Gibb River road”, Via Darby, we will explore the magnificent gorges of this area including a visit to Windjina Gorge,Tunnel Creek, Manning Gorge and Galvans Gorge.

We will be driving in a remote part of Australia you will not believe is ours, the King Leopold Ranges are some of the oldest exposed rocks in the world, and truly make for spectacular viewing.

Continuing along the Gibb River road, with a better understanding of this area. We cross the Pentecost River and on to El Questro with time to explore the scenic gorges and relax in the thermal hot springs.

Making our way to Kununurra, we will visit Emma Gorge and Wyndham. Continuing along the Ord river to Parry’s lagoon (great place for birding and a chance for a croc spotting) then into Kununurra to experience its attractions and onto Lake Argyle.

Leaving Kununurra, travelling between the King Leopold Range and the Carr Boyd Range with spectacular scenery, to World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park where we will enjoy short walks while camping inside the National Park. Some may choose to take an optional helicopter flight over this natural wonder.

Once we leave Purnululu, we visit Halls creek, on route for Fitzroy Crossing on the Fitzroy River, a complementary afternoon cruise of Geikie Gorge will keep you wanting more, we make camp for the night at Fitzroy River Lodge.

We will head to Broome for a well-earned rest and a couple of days in paradise. We will make you feel at home here and ensure you get to know your way around.

Itinerary

After a complimentary pick up from your accommodation, we leave this  beautiful area.Heading onto the mighty Fitzroy river on route for a quick visit to Dalby with its 13m tides and famous prison tree. Then onto the Gibb River Road and the grandeur of the Napier Range. We make camp at its base at the entrance of Windjana Gorge, part of the 350 to 375 million-year-old Devonian Reef systems.

Windjana Gorge – B.L.D.T.S.C.

This morning we will walk Windjana Gorge for some freshwater Crocodile spotting and a closer look at Napier Range. We will learn of “Jandamarra” and visit Tunnel Creek, where water has worn a tunnel beneath the limestone of the Napier Range. You can walk 750 metres through the tunnel to the other side of Napier Range wading through several permanent pools and watching for bats. It is home to Western Australia’s oldest cave system. Then back to the Gibb River Road and over the “King Leopold Ranges”, we are in some of the most spectacular gorge country of Australia, we visit Galvans Gorge. Before we reach our camp at MT Barnett station on the Manning River, under the beautiful Boab trees, and enjoy another star lit night.

Back onto the Gibb river Rd. Calling into Ellenbrae Station along the way, learning about jump ups and some more about the flow of water in the area. The scenery we see today is so special it will remain in your mind’s eye for a very long time. We end our day camping on the Pentecost River at El Questro station. There is an opportunity here to upgrade to a cabin if you wish.

Today we will explore some of El Questro Station, a million acres is a lot to see in one day. With so many options on the stations, we will pick the best of it that suits you, and plan a wonderful day. We will walk and explore some of El Questro’s Gorges, swim in the clear water or enjoy some of the tour options available.

Camp El Questro Station – B.L.D.S.T.C.A.WM

After being back on the tourist route, we will attempt to beat the crowds with an early morning swim at Zebedee Springs thermal hot pools. After which we will head to Emma Gorge on the eastern side of the station, for a hike and a swim in the beautiful pools of this gorge. On route for Kununurru, we will visit Wyndham and the 5 rivers lookout, cross the Ord river floodplain to Parry’s lagoon, a bird hide, with plenty of wildlife. Then onto Kununurra for a quick stop for supplies. Then onto our camp at Lake Argyle

Lake Argyle – Full facilities B.L.D.T.S.C.A.WM .

This morning we will join Triple J Tour for a boat tour of the Mighty Ord River, for their awards winning tour with local experts. Where we will rendezvous with you at Lake Kununurra.

Leaving Kununurra, we travel between the King Leopold Range and the Car Boyd Range, with spectacular rock formations, passing Argyle Diamond mine and a chance to stop at some wonderful art galleries along the way.Our destination, the World Heritage Purnululu National Park to see the Bungle Bungles.

Today we travel along rugged 4WD only tracks before setting our camp late in the afternoon. The Bungles are famous for its 400-metre high beehive shaped domes. 

Explore Picaninny Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm. Some great short walks with some of the most spectacular scenery ever to be seen. Today there is the option for a scenic Helicopter flight and experience it all from the air.

Making our way back out the 4×4 track to the HWY, we head for Halls Creek. With a wondrous scenic drive today we head for Fitzroy Crossing. Coming back onto the Napier Range, we will be staying at the Fitzroy River Lodge. With an opportunity for a complementary Geikie Gorge Tour and a night with creature comforts.

Heading along HWY No.1 the Savanna way we will be making our way back to Broome, with an understanding of the incredible amount of water that flows out of the King Leopold Ranges into the Fitzroy River. We travel along this food plain to Cable Beach for a sunset and our tour ends, with a drop off at your accommodation.

  • Washing machines are available at Drysdale station, El Questro station, Kununurra and Fitzroy river lodge, also bucket washing at any time.
  • We will provide pegs and line for hanging clothes and buckets to wash in Bush shower, toilet paper, hand sanitiser and fresh drinking water,
